Lydia S. Dugdale is a physician and ethicist at Columbia University in New York City, where she also directs the Center for Clinical Medical Ethics. She teaches medical students, cares for patients, and consults on complex ethical questions at Columbia's Milstein Hospital. Dugdale is the author, most recently, of The Lost Art of Dying(HarperOne, 2020), a book she wrote for her patients on preparing for death.
